Wally Drake was, before Crucible-1138, a fairly ordinary man, unaware of his true heritage- his family line is descended from one Vlad Dracula, and as a consequence of certain bargains and magical rituals made in the time of his ancestors, access to necromantic powers. Wally, unaware of this, worked as a costumer and usher for the local little theater. After the Ring of Destiny, things...changed. His native powers awoke, and what would ordinarily have taken him years of practice to master came to him in an instant- Mastery of the dead and creatures of the night, the ability to fascinate others with a look, and a certain amount of unholy vitality. It left him slightly unhinged, and after he gained full control of his powers, he named himself the Nightmaster, Lord of the Undead, and borrowed the vampire outfit from storage. The abandoned little theater is now his home, where he and his thralls lay plans to conquer the world. Or at least the city.

In Recent months, Nightmaster has changed his goals, and seems to have taken over the small Virginia Town of Norrington Creek, Virginia, converting several of the inhabitants to undead and enslaving the others to build a black tower- A tower that, according to the heroine Dreamweaver, exists only in the real world at night and crosses over into the Dreamlands during the day.

What he truly plans to do with this project remains to be seen until further investigations are made.
