The Metahuman Incident Management Investigative Committee (M.I.M.I.C) was formed by the Department of Justice in response to emergent incidents of crime involving metahuman abilities following the formation of the Ring of Destiny. The organization is based primarily in Washington D.C. but its officers are stationed through the United States, depending on their speciality.

Purpose

The committee is tasked with recording, analysing, assessing and recommending action on all significant incidents involving metahumans and determining whether new legislation is needed to cover all currently occurring incidents as well as ensuring the legislation is comprehensive enough to cover any possible future incidents.

Branches

M.I.M.I.C has four branches, mostly filled with the most talented civic minded professionals the United States of America has to offer.

Investigative

The Investigative Branch studies all cases of reported incidents to match with current legislation and/or note anomalies that would require new legislation to encompass those incidents. The investigative branch also has a separate unit filled mainly with academics and scientists tasked with theorising future incidents involving metahuman criminal activity for assessment by the Legislative Branch.

Informative

The Informative Branch produces literature designed to disseminate the information collated and uncovered by the other branches of M.I.M.I.C to all law enforcement agencies across the US. The Informative Branch also works closely with law enforcement to gauge their opinions and experiences outside of purely documented incidents of metahuman activity to notify the Investigative Branch of any information of interest for use with their data collation and assessment.

Judicial

The Judicial Branch tracks precedents set in courts around the United States to map the changes in case law for dissemination via the Informative Branch.

Legislative

The Legislative Branch focuses primarily on any recommendations from other branches that call for new legislation and upon reaching a satisfactory conclusion, will draw up drafts for tabling with the Department of Justice.
