Metahuman

A metahuman (also: meta, freak, and weirdo) represents anyone with greater than normal abilities, at least in popular culture. This includes those with access to high technology or magical artifacts, though by strictest definition, the term only applies to innate abilities and not abilities gained through equipment.

Society's reaction to metahumans varies by the person. As a whole, however, people tend to be quite wary and even frightened; it's difficult dealing with people who are quite literally one-person armies, with the potential to destroy thousands or even millions. Some people want metahumans stringently monitored or even killed, while others simply fear and distrust them. A large minority think they're cool even as they fear them.

Like anything else in a nation, it is a complicated subject and often the viewpoints are as widely divergent as the people involved.
