Place Half a Mile from Port Liberty's Waterfront on a Yaught.
Time (IC) Just after Sunrise
Time (OOC) 8:30 am est - 11:30 am est

It's still pretty early in the morning here in Port Liberty, VA. Sun is coming up, long shadows are cast across the water front. It's a Saturday so there is very little activity around the port and the warehouses... at least right now. No one is going to come into work early on a Saturday! However one's focus shouldn't be upon the warehouses but on the water itself. A small yaught is about a mile away from the shoreline, anchored in its position on the water. From shore one could probably hear the loud music coming from it. The people on the boat seem like they've been partying all night! Perhaps they have not outgrown that kind of partying. The party on the boat is more than meets the eye, however. That is why Mirage has been among the people on the boat incognito for most of the night. Presently he floats above the deck simply observing. His incorporeal form is unseen by the moderately sauced party-goers.

Surge is making a last patrol of the waterfront before heading home and notices the yacht out on the water. She detours a bit and drops some altitude to use the morning mist and fog to hide her approach. She circles the boat at a distance and just watches. Mostly just curious more than anything else. Maybe see if she knows any faces.

Perhaps is Surge might recognize some of these people. They are generally well off individuals in the upper echelons of wealth. Or rather Surge may know of them if she herself is moderately wealthy in her civilian persona. If not, she'll just note that it's a bunch of rich men and women hob-knobbing. She may catch a glimpse of Mirage's electro-magnetic signature floating there above the yaught. Why Mirage is here could be considered a mystery... as the first impression is that these rich people are just out enjoying the early morning; or maybe most of them. Mirage's ethereal form starts to move, flying towards the deck of the anchored boat.

Surge likely will detect Mirage's EM signature especially since she's been working hard at detecting human signatures as well as mechanical/electronic ones. The boat masks a good bit of his EM signature but she knows -something- or most likely -someone- is flying over the boat. She slows to a hover and dampens her own signature as much as possible. She looks right where the signature is coming from and wonders how to go about finding out who it might be. She looks right at the signature and fluoresces her field into the visible spectrum with a touch of power. Enough for it to seem like St. Elmos Fire floating over the water. A glowing patch of fog. Just for a few moments then it fades but one doesn't see purple-ish white fog/mist everyday.

The boat is interesting. The music is loud... but the people on it are not dancing. Gradually the activity gets less and less on the deck. More and more people begin to sit down or lay down on the reclining chairs that line the deck of the yaught. Mirage touches down on-deck and rematerializes. With his density at its normal level, he is once again visible with the naked eye. He chances this because... it appears people are beginning to just fall asleep on the deck. The people that were partying moments ago are now systematically falling asleep. Mirage whispers to himself, "Bingo. Patient fella..." Surge eyes this seemingly dramatic change in the party as an obvious meta appears on deck. She's surprised that she recognizes him as the Meta she met while flying home one morning. She racks her mind trying to remember what was discussed that morning and she finally just comes out of the mist and onto the deck in full view and her wrists and fists halo'd with blue-white energy. "You might want to explain yourself -real- fast, fella, or you're going into the ocean. Don't bother with the vanishing act. Trust me, you can't hide from me." Her voice is filled with a strange static-like quality.

Mirage is moving along the deck by the time Surge makes her presence even more obvious. The lights in the fog were noted, but in this day and age... one gets numbed to such odd sights. The camo-clad Hero turns around when Surge lands on the deck and speaks to him in a rather aggressive manner. His eyebrow arcs over the small mask that covers his eyes, "Uhhh... I am here to save these people?" He answers her and waves a hand to gesture towards the sleeping people, "I disappear and phase through things, I don't..." He moves towards one of the napping individuals, "... put people to sleep. Hmmmm" He looks up away from the former party-goer and towards the small structure that houses the command deck.

Surge watches the man carefully and more importantly -feels- his aura. She can't really tell if he's lying to her but her gut says he's not. She lowers her hand but doesn't release the charge she's built up yet. She instead walks closer, trusting her invisible force field to protect her in case of treachery. She follows his gaze and asks "Another meta? One that can put people to sleep? Heard of those...never seen one in action though. Think he/she is up there?"

The Camo-Clad Hero shrugs his shoulders, "Dunno." He looks away from the structure and back towards Surge, "Ain't dealt with this guy or gal before. Caught wind of this little gathering and the party they were gonna throw and got the hunch to watch over 'em. I was gonna give up... but the person began to make their move, proving that somethin' was gonna happen here." He points a gloved finger to the command deck, "Person's probably part of the crew. A drink server or even the person steerin' the boat." Surge asks without taking her eyes off the command deck. "How are you planning to find out? The boat is at anchor so not likely anyone's steering it."

Mirage nods, "It got out here. Someone steered it." He turns his head and looks back to Surge, "And I can find out anything." He smirks at her, "Unseen. Unheard." Mirage turns his body around to face the command deck but before he can take a step forward or turn incorporeal, the door to the Command Deck opens up. A lone figure emerges, It's a man and he is indeed wearing the same uniform that some of the sleeping crew are wearing on the deck. In his hands are two things. One is a large sack, which is partially filled. The other? An odd and futuristic looking handgun. The man looks startled.. as if not expecting to find someone awake up on deck. The door quickly slams shut after he back steps into the Command Deck.

Surge see's the guy as she was looking right at him when he walked out and she says "Bingo! C'mon!" Up and after him she goes. She doesn't bother with the door. All that lovely glass!

The Camo-Clad Soldier blinks in surprise by the sudden appearance of the person he's here to locate. It's enough hesitation to allow the man to duck back into the command deck. Mirage utters after Surge, "Careful, I am not sure what this guy is capable of." With that said, Mirage fades from sight... quickly becoming ethereal and incorporeal. He flies towards the command deck... where a door or window is in his way, he simply phases strait through it.

Scent see's the flying woman blast through the window of the command deck and he raises his Blaster Pistol and with an electric whine-BAM, fires a shot at the woman. The blast zips past her though and blows a fist sized hole in the door of the command deck. He wasn't counting on facing Metas on this little heist!

Surge wasn't quite prepared to be shot at with a Blaster and she's momentarily surprised and yelps "HEY! WATCHIT! Oh you wanna play with energy?! See if you like getting Tased!" She then lets the charge fly from her hand. A ball of white-blue energy leaps at the villain and he staggers under the electricity that envelops him suddenly. He screams and is left breathing hard and feeling like he just french-kissed a light socket!

The blast from Scent will probably take out a fairly decent sized chunk out of the wall of the command deck... just as Mirage phases into the structure. The incorporeal hero will look at the hole and suddenly become corporeal again. His feet hit the floor and he starts to make for the apparently tasered meta-human. The Camo-Clad Soldier cocks an arm back at his side and clenches his fist. He rushes the would-be thief and swings a hooking punch for Scent's face. His gloved fist connects with the other meta's cheek and chin and sends him sprawling backwards... stumbling for a moment before falling to the floor.

Surge watches the guy get knocked down but not out by Mirage and she frowns a bit and then decides to go with the old brute force standby. She pulls the energy within her into her fist and then releases it in a bolt of blue-white LIGHTNING! The bolt slams into Scent and he is picked up by the blast, now QUITE charred and blown out through the front of the command deck, through the glass and onto the deck below which isn't really a very high fall, only 6 feet to the next deck down. Scent is barely holding onto consciousness as he twitches from the overload of electrical energy to his nervous system.

The Camo-Clad Soldier looks towards Surge after the bright blue-white lightning is hurled Scent's way. Mirage felt the hairs on his arms and neck rise at the electrical surge. He took a step backwards... what little good it would have done him if the bolt was meant for him. Mirage directs his gaze to where Scent flew, "Remind me not to piss you off." He comments before decreasing his density enough to start hovering into the air, "Hope he didn't go overboard!" He flies towards where Scent made his forced egress from the structure.

Scent is laying on the deck, moaning at this point, not really that able to focus clearly on much of anything. All his muscles jumping and twitching under his skin. That blast really knocked the crap out of him and he just can't focus enough to use his boots to effect an escape.

Surge flies through the hole Scent made on his way out and she says "He shot at me!" in response to Mirage's words. She lands on the deck and says "Surrender now!" to Scent. Being that she's young and inexperienced with dealing with this sort of thing, she doesn't know any better. She's talking to the bad guy instead of making sure the bugger doesn't recover and blast her or fly away.

Mirage hovers slowly out of the hole and observes Surge as he approaches her and the rather stunned would-be thief. Mirage grunts as he floats above Scent, "Oh he'll surrender." The Camo-Clad Hero will increase his density to levels higher than normal. Mirage drops like a rock out of the sky and onto Scent. When he falls and lands on the criminal, he drives a knee down into his stomach. His hands reach for the criminal's arms as a means of pinning him down. The shock of the impact mixed with the thrashing that Surge has given Scent has finally knocked him out.

Surge actually winces when Mirage slams into the would-be-thief and she says "Good thing your knee wasn't a little further south on his anatomy, man. Yowch!" She walks closer and detects the presence of high-level energy signatures from the thief. "Whoa. This guy is emitting some -serious- energy signatures. Hmm... the gun...his belt...and his boots." She leans down to examine the items and then she proceeds to remove them. "He's not gonna need these when he wakes up. High tech stuff though. Wonder where he got them?"

Mirage slides off the criminal and stands up, decreasing his density to normal levels. He turns his head and regards Surge and the technology she is referring to. His head shakes, "Not sure. The gun looks like it could have caused someone a lot of pain and sufferin'." He pauses, "Should leave the tech as evidence for the police, you think?" He takes a step backwards and stuffs his gloved hands into the pockets of his jacket, "Hopefully-" he turns his head and regards the sleeping people on the deck, "-These guys'll wake up soon..."

Surge looks at Mirage, her metallic-blue goggles cover her eyes but her body language practically screams 'Are you nuts?!' She says almost incredulously. "Not freakin’ likely. Cops don't -like- us ya know. They're scared and can you imagine SCION with this kinda gear? They'd start hunting us. No...I think I'm gonna drop these in the ocean." She seems to be looking the belt over the most. "Bet this is what he used to knock people out. It's got the highest signature of all this stuff. Probably some sort of ultra-high frequency sonic inhibitor device. I read somewhere that the military were working on a sonic device that interrupts nerve paths in humans. Can cause pain or knock people out. This is seriously way more advanced though and very compact."

Mirage furrows his brow a bit at the response he gets from Surge. He shakes his head and turns around to face the other vigilante, "Eh, You don't gotta tell me that the cops don't like us. They want me for questionin'. However this stuff is evidence. They need it to convict the low-life you know?" He steps towards Surge and looks down at the belt, "Yea the Military probably was workin' on somethin' like that. Probably woulda used it in non-lethal means for command and control purposes." He pauses

Surge looks at you again and then shrugs. She drops the gear on the deck and says "I guess you're right. I'd hate to be the one that has to investigate this. One sec and I'll have the Coast Guard on their way." She reaches up to her goggles and does something then states clearly "Yeah...gonna need you to drop a dime on the Coast Guard, mate." She flies back to the command deck, checks something on the panel there and says "Yeah...here it is <rattles off coordinate numbers for the boats position>" She hovers back down and says "No I am -not- going to bring you the stuff. It's evidence! He's right." A short pause and she says "Alright...thanks Odin. See ya back at Command." Another pause "Go get your own Twinkies ya lazy bum!" She then looks at Mirage. "Sorry...a friend will drop the message in the nearest Cutters' computer system and they'll come investigate."

The Camo-Clad Hero will raise an eyebrow at the one side of the conversation that he over hears from Surge. He offers her a nod and comments, "Definitely not regulation communication protocol." He then smirks a bit, "Taught a little differently in the Army." He then gives her a thumbs up, "But, the results are the same. This guy's tagged. Coast Guard'll bag 'em." Then he points skyward, "And we can skidoo on outta here."

Surge nods "Figured you were ex-military. Had a few of those types teach me some stuff...not communications protocol though. One sec." She walks over to Scent and pulls a pair of plastic zip-ties from some hidden pocket in her costume. She proceeds to zip-tie Scent hands and feet and using a little power to melt the ties closed. "Just in case he wakes up early." She says as she hovers into the air a bit. She pulls a simple white card from another hidden pocket and offers it to you. It contains only an e-mail address. Likely very anonymous. "Drop me a line if you get anything juicy you might need help with...given enough notice I can even bring backup. Know a few people." At this point she takes off...fast. Straight up! After a couple seconds, there’s the thunder crack of a sonic boom. Girls got some -serious- speed.

Mirage takes the offered card and nods to her just before she ascends. The former Soldier swivels the card around so that he can glance at it. It's given a once over and Mirage stuffs it into the inside pocket of his jacket. He gives the ascending individual a casual salute and shouts after her, "I'll be in touch." Suddenly the man shifts into intangibility and disappears from view. The camo-clad hero ascends much slower than Surge and goes about his own business from here.
