Port Liberty is where it all began and where it still continues. Simone has roots here, though her heart lies far across the oceans to the other side of the world. Life is a day by day passing and the growth of understanding of her place in the world's Tao; in essence to find how to carry out her De. Simone has a long way to go, and that first step is shedding a past that claims her.

Origin
Simone was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Ronald and Britney Broussard. Simone was the last of three children. Her sister, Connie was the eldest and her brother Stephen the middle child. Her father's family still held a lot of land from a grandfather several hundred years before. Because of this the family was well off enough not to have to concern themselves with basic economical needs. That of course would change in time.Growing up as any child would in the twentieth century, Simone took part in extracurricular activities. Gymnastics and martial arts were her forte and despite the opposition against regular music lessons, she did them anyways. When she was nearly thirteen in the year 1997, her family decided to make a move to Chicago to follow her father's job in the family business.
Chicago Years
Simone adjusted, having to as she watched her sister put up a fit and her brother doing his best. It was a definitive change, a high rise condo instead of a sprawling plantation like farm she had known since birth. But programs here for gymnastics were above and beyond what she had expected and the youngest of the three was content to continue to work on her own talents.
Her sister eventually chose to attend the Urbana college in Chicago and her brother went to the Art Institute to pursue his sculpting. Her mother as always had her vacations and spa gatherings while her father commuted by plane to New York every once and a while to make sure the foundations for his new company were settling.
Simone found other ways to occupy her time. Three years passed quickly and Simone, always her father's daughter decided to attend a special school within New York to be near him.
New York
Winter, it was always something she couldn't comprehend, not after living in the South most of her life. Always so cold, but the continued years of study and no clear direction for her left each winter a burden for the family. Simone was one of many minds and she once decided to direct her attention to a possible religions major while still in high school. This beneath her, she began to travel and seek out different areas of the world. Taosim in particular fascinated her. People able to manipulate the Chi around them. Her father of course humored her and sent her abroad whereever she would wish to go.
Tibet
She was abroad when the comet hit, studying in Tibet and learning of the culture under the guidance of a friend of the family. The news did eventually reach her, but not before small nuances began to surface in her daily meditations. The Chi she once found elusive began to surface for her and meld with her in odd ways. It was a week after this that she received the summons from her father to return home. She did.
A Devastating Homecoming
Simone came home to nothing she thought she ever would. The world was changing and her life was turned upside down. The comet had struck and had taken half of her family with it. Her father clung to her more than ever and she found herself remaining home instead of travelling. Despite this, she did not wish to leave either and stuck to her father's side. They became closer than they ever had before.
Daily meditations began to surface new and interesting abilities and had her questioning her own sanity. One day, sitting cross legged upon the floor of their condo, she felt the waves of energy and movement pass her hands. Her chi was building. Opening her eyes, the colors almost danced for her, different hues to beckon her touch. Startled as they grew in intensity, she stood and stumbled back, tripping and nearly landing into the small table by her bedside. She reached a hand out only to find it pass right through it and nearly through the floor. Frightened as well as intrigued, Simone did not meditate for several more days.
When she finally resumed meditation, she began to work through her questions and new abilities.
Life Changes
It was not a half a year after the catastrophe that her father was murdered upon the streets of Port Liberty. Simone was with him that night, they were walking home from a dinner together when they were held up and mugged. Her father stood up and tried to get her to move away as he handed over his wallet. He was struck down and Simone moved to help him when the gun was pulled. Simone had a half a second to think when her hand whipped out to grab for the gun, the colors of the energies fluctuating before her. Years of meditation and martial arts left her muscles ready to respond. Pulling the guy's arm, she was able to disarm him but it was not fast enough to save her father.
Ronald was shot and Simone was with one gun, the other criminal stood toe to toe with her. Moving in on him too, her anger filling her, she disarmed and meant to take the other's life but she was struck from behind.
Priory and Acceptance
Her supposed rescuers that evening were the Priory, not known to her at all at this time. She awoke somewhere strange and foreign and when she was able, one of their order spoke with her. Confused and wary, they soon supported their claims by bringing her a paper with the incidient reported. Her anger renewed, her father, the closest person had been found dead. As emotions moved unsettled through her, the chi began to show itself again, the colors growing and mimicing themselves around her informers and captures, as well as herself. She refused them and actually meant to attack to free herself. They restrained her with little effort and she was offered a deal. If she were to work for them, using her ability - yes they knew - they would in turn help her to understand it better and pay for her aid. With no real choice in the beginning, Simone finally gave in. Thus her full fledged training began in the art of stealth and death. Each day only fed her anger and embitterment, sealing away her true self within it. The powers soon became second nature and SImone was released with Orders after a year.
A Dark Path Left
Simone grew into her work, learning to love the shadows as she once had loved the light. Objects were not hard to pass through and she melded seamlessly with the shadows around her. A year of work for the priory brought over 35 deaths in total, each clean and untraceable. Anoher wondrous talent of her's. The string of death's began to be named Winter's Touch, mostly for the quick cool way they were killed and the uncertainty of the motives. Winter needs not motive to kill, it only needs to be cold. Did such things please her? It was uncertain but her second year of service came into play and she was moving again.
She did not question who she was killing or why..no she did her job. Not until her target was a family and more over a young boy. She did her work as always, under the cover of night. It was when she came face to face with the boy, sleeping within his room that she hesitated. He did wake to find her and she never forgot those mismatched eyes that stared at her as she took his life. It was then that she fled the touch of the Priory, leaving the dagger that had taken the boys life.
The Yin and the Yang
Moving south enough to find winter's bareable, she settled in Port Liberty, VA. Starting a new life there, she began to teach religion classes at the local college, attempting to leave her past few years in the dark, alone.
Finding her own place slowly, Simone has begun to piece her life together. Watching the world and people continue to change around her. She knows these changes, and she keeps her head down when it comes to them. She knows what they can be used for.
Lamentation
Keeping a low profile and only following the gang activities, Simone has not donned the name Winter often since settling. Recently though, the increased gang related violence has her out, wearing an old uniform given to her by her previous employers. It was on this outting that she met Tech Hazard, a rather inquisitive and persistent Android. Having run into him several times after, she invited him to remain within her apartment so that he might remain out of watchful eyes.Winter had long been an adopted name during her darker years and with the turning of a new leaf, she had decided that this time called for a new skin, a fresh start. With Tech's help, he came up with a name that seemed to soothe and suit her at the same time. Reborn as Lament, the name Winter was dropped. A dark heroine of the shadows, her every move a lament of a former purpose.
