Rebecca Morningway, the 47th Heir of Astra

Rebecca Morningway is the 47th individual in her line to bear the name 'Astra'. The Lords and Ladies Astra have been among the premier mystical defenders of this plane of existence since the early Medieval period. The true origins of the Morningway (as they are known to the world at large) family's mystic heritage is lost to the fog of time, but family tradition maintains that their ultimate ancestor, Justinian Manevitas, was visited by the Archangel Gabriel who granted unto him the power to drive back darkness. The veracity of this account, of course, is impossible to determine, however the inability of the Morningway line to harm (or resist) wielders of holy powers certainly gives at least a little credence to the tale.

For centuries the Morningway line has fought against the forces of evil, always operating in the very shadows that they sought to illuminate. Over time they gained a significant reputation in the secret halls of power such that when the Freemasons were formed to combat the rising power of the Anaximander Priory there was no question that a Morningway would be involved. Even now those with knowledge of the mystical world are likely to know of the Astra line.

Throughout the long centuries the study of the mystic arts has been a long a grueling process involving intense study and training. Heirs to the Morningway line often studied for half their lives or more before their arcane mastery was sufficient for them to claim the title of Lord or Lady Astra. The impact of the Crucible comet, however, has disrupted this pattern, perhaps forever.

Rebecca

A young classical Historian with a number of published works under her belt. She is known for her somewhat outlandish theories regarding the origins of myths and legends which, while earning her a certain degree of scorn from her peers, at least make her books far more interesting to read than the average history book.

She is also the young heiress to the Morningway family, having inherited the Morningway fortune and estate after the tragic disappearance of her parents last year.

Lady Astra

The 47th heir to the Line of Astra, Lady Astra comes from an impressive mystical pedigree. The Astra line's origins are lost in myth, but they are known to have been fighting the forces of darkness since the early Middle Ages at least. The Astra family is well-regarded in mystic circles and few with knowledge of Arcane knowledge have not heard of them. (Status feat)
