History
Pre-Crucible
Jackson was born with a progressive genetic neurological disease. His father Abraham is a well-known geneticist who decided to cure his son's condition using 'mutant' DNA sequences he discovered while still a graduate student. Jackson became his first human trial, and the procedures worked better than he could have hoped. Not only did the treatments reverse and eliminate his neurological conditions, they strengthened and enhanced the youth's body and mind to a formidible degree.
After the Comet
After the Ring of Destiny formed, Jackson found his extraordinary (but still within human bounds) gifts growing more so; his intelligence underwent a massive and fundamental change, giving him insights and abilities he's still uncovering. His physical form went from athletic to close to the peak of human perfection, especially his speed and coordination. He had been 'raised right' as some would say, and was used to using his considerable wealth and talents to benefit his fellow man. Now with reports of metahuman activity pouring in, he decided to take a more direct hand in things and created a costumed alter-ego: Blackjack. He designed weapons and a base of operations, and took to the streets to make a difference.

Fairchilde Architecture, Construction and Engineering is a large privately-held contracting firm that handles private, public and government projects of almost any scale from home building to skyscrapers and urban layouts. Jackson's own specialty lies in urban planning and visionary sustainable space layouts, but he employs people versed in several disciplines.

Jackson can be encountered almost anywhere but the poorest sections of the city, unless he's attending a charity event. As Blackjack, he can be found anywhere, at any time. He gets around. Just page.
How could I know him? Jackson isn't what you'd really call 'famous', though his status as one of Port Liberty's Most Eligible Bachelors gets him at least one photo in local magazines a year. He's just a very successful businessman. But he can be connected to people in any number of ways. Maybe you went to the same high school? He went to a number of different universities, taking classes or mostly gleaning what he could from a particularly knowledgeable source. Anyone connected to architecture, construction, civil engineering, art or any related discipline could either have contracted with him in the past, or maybe you work either for him or in one of his subsidiaries. For the science-minded, they could know him through his father, or through some professional journal articles he's contributed in his fields.
