Saracino Legacy

The Saracino line was established in New York City in the early 1920's. Over the years, their fortune grew because they became involved with the mafia. As their network grew, the Saracino family was made one of the top families related to the mafia. As one the five families, the Saracino's status within the network had risen and fallen through out the existence of the Mafia. They remained anonymous in the public eye, until Tate's great grandfather became too greedy with his Las Vegas "buy out" drawing the attention of the federal government. After the "mess" was cleaned up, the Saracino family went into hiding back in New York City. It was never "proven" that the Saracino's were involved in the mafia, however to this day the FBI, CIA, and IRS watch their activities for any proof they are involved with the mafia in fact.

"How you doing?"

As the youngest son of Marcello and Maria Saracino, Tatum was born into money. His father worked very hard like his father before him. His oldest brother Nicko, was considered the next in line for the Saracino fortune. The Saracino's were a very stereotypical Italian family. The father worked, and no one asked about his day at the "office". The mother took care of the house, cooking and cleaning. Nicko took care of his younger brother, and Tatum. Tatum didn't have much to do expect be cute and adorable. As the years past, Tatum was clearly not like his father or his brother. He attended Deerfield Academy like his brother, yet he did not show the same interest as his brother did at school. Tate showed an interest in acrobatics, art, and music. His love of music grew over the years, as did his talent in acrobatics. The years past; Nicko graduated and began to work with his father. Tatum focused on his studies, with the hopes of one day going to Yale or Harvard to study music.

The Day It All Changed

After graduating Deerfield, Tate's father saw his passion for music. Marcello arranged for him to go to Chicago for the year to study music with Andrew Jacobs. The world renown, Broadway composer at his studio. As he got settled into Chicago, Tate grew to love the Windy City almost as much as his home town of New York. His lessons with Mr Jacobs began to progress when everything changed. On October 11, 2010. A mysterious comet, dubbed CRUCIBLE-1138, on unerring path to the earth caught the scientific community and the world completely off-guard. This event changed Tatum for the rest of his life, turning him into the man he is today.

When A Cat Crosses Your Path?

As the effects of CRUCIBLE-1138 began to take effect on the world, it did not leave Tatum out of the loop. Tate began to notice changes within himself. The first and foremost, was the morning he woke up to find his eyes were forever changed to yellow cat eyes. With this change, the colors seemed different, light itself seemed different, and so did smell. Tate could smell the freshly baked bread across the street. As the effects of the "Ring" completely changed Tate, his powers seem to be catlike in manner, yet...stronger...more powerful. He could move with an Enhanced Dexterity, Speed, and Leap over great deals. As he grew in talent, strength, and understanding of his new found powers Tate decided to take his metahuman status even farther. Tate decided to create the "Black Cat" in honor of his family, and to protect his father from harm. The Black Cat's name quickly became known on the streets of New York City. He stopped gangs, crime bosses, and various metahuman criminals.

When the Son becomes the Father

As he continued to be the Black Cat, Tatum protected his family, the weak, and the innocent. Yet, the two major changes in his life were when he lost his brother to a car accident through a 'faulty' gasline and the night when the Black Cat met his match. One of the "families" took out a contract on Marcello, by hiring the deadly killer "The Black Hand". As the Black Cat revealed himself to Marcello, he defended him against the killer with all his might. The Black Hand was stronger, faster, and his powers were made for killing. The Black Cat failed in what he swore to do for his family. That night Marcello Saracino was murdered by the Black Hand. Tatum took his father's death hard, and swore he would not be like his father. Tatum went to the "Godfather" requesting to be removed from the network. As the new head of the "Saracino" family the "Godfather" felt this was acceptable because he did not know any of the secrets. Tatum sold all of his father's smaller businesses, moved his mother to their house in Italy, and moved out of New York City to start over. Will the young man be able to start a new life? Will his families shadowy past always loom over his head? Will he forgive himself for his father's death? Only time will tell...
